Professional Floor Installation matters – the performance of a new floor depends on it.

You have a host of choices when it comes to new flooring – material, style, color, and more – really, the only limit is your imagination. Whatever flooring you choose for your home, who installs it makes all the difference.
Doing it yourself may seem like a great way to save money (and they do make it seem so easy on the home improvement shows), but the time spent and risk of mistake can be costly. This also goes for warehouse or discount dealers; they often take shortcuts or use inexperienced installers, so achieving the look you want or long-term value can be a costly proposition.
A professional accredited flooring technician has years of experience. YouTube videos may be helpful, but they aren’t going to provide you with the details necessary for completing such a difficult project. Only a professional has the knowledge and experience to guarantee a job well done.
Even the most elegant Laminate ,vinyl Mkeka wa Mbao or Linoleum flooring can appear cheap if the installation isn’t completed properly. Rather than settling for a mediocre installation, rely on professionals to make sure that your home looks its best.
There are many steps during a flooring installation that need to be completed correctly and skillfully for a successful outcome. We are committed in providing the installers with the best training so they in turn, will provide customers with the highest standards of workmanship.
A professional team can ensure that your flooring is installed correctly the first time. You won’t have to spend money on fixing loose ends or replacing mismanaged flooring. Rather, you can enjoy your perfect flooring for years to come.
How important is proper installation? So important that your warranty depends on it! Manufacturers know that Vinyl, or laminates can only perform as well as it is installed.
Safeguard your investment
Flooring investment is a major investment when installed properly, it can increase the overall value of your property. This is no small consideration.

The Worst affected are families with kids or elderly folks in the household, falling will hurt and may seriously injure people. Moreover, unfloored houses usually become damp due to the moisture migrating from the underneath and top of the slab. Finish off your Flooring with our Beautiful Skirtings/Baseboards that Frame and Match your Floor Perfectly!
Are you looking for that perfect skirting board to give your interior that finishing touch? A stylish skirting board that hides your ugly cables discretely Or a cover skirting to quickly camouflage your old skirting boards? Floor Décor Kenya knows what the right wall skirting can do for your interior.
Skirting boards are a common fixture in most homes and choosing a suitable design can complement an interior space beautifully. A popular and affordable option for skirting boards in your home is MDF Moulding. This versatile material has many benefits both functionally and aesthetically, and it pairs perfectly with a range of floor finishes.
Filling Gaps
Without skirting, the transition from floor to wall looks unfinished and bare and allows walls to be easily damaged. Even in modern houses, there can be a few millimeters difference between walls and flooring, the Expansion gaps between the floor and walls are ideal for natural expansion and contraction. To overcome this, MDF skirting boards provide a simple solution for covering these gaps, whilst creating an aesthetically pleasing look.
Long lasting MDF Moulding Material
Our Skirtings are made for longevity and offers a hardwearing yet decorative element to your home. The surface of MDF Skirtings are laminated to match your floor color and provides a smooth finish, which can also be easily painted to match your interior design. Unlike other skirting board materials such as pine and oak, MDF will not expand, contract or warp so it creates a professional, sturdy and reliable look throughout.
Preventing Damage
One of the key advantages of having skirting boards in your living spaces is to keep your rooms looking good. MDF skirting boards provide a tough barrier between the walls and furniture, and also prevent knocks – for example when you are vacuuming a room or if you have small children running around!
Covering Blemishes or Wiring
In properties new and old, there are elements of untidy paintwork or unsightly wiring especially along the bottom edge or corners of a room. Skirting board is an ideal option for covering these common problems and provides an affordable way to give a smoother finish to your décor.
Our skirting boards have spacious tunnels that separate from each other and allow you to put power cables and wires for TV, internet, computer and more.
Complementing Interior Design & Unique Profiles
Floor Décor Skirting boards are ideal for making a room look and feel complete. They are available in a range of profiles and sizes, which work perfectly in both traditional and contemporary homes. We have different profile including the unique 5 by 1 British Profile. Simple and sleek Skirtings appeal to modern aesthetics. Skirtings do so much more. They add character to your interior, can visually raise the ceiling, and are a convenient way to cover a messy seam between the wall and the floor… In short, they are essential in any room!
Easy to install and Zero Maintenance
Skirting boards are easy to install and come in a variety of finishes, which enable you to paint or prime them as you wish. This low maintenance and affordable decorative feature is long lasting and easy to replace if it becomes damaged. They can also be painted in situ if you decide to revamp your décor post installation.
Skirtings are quiet ingredients in a room, It’s so much part of our architectural vernacular that we only notice it if it’s not there at all.

What factors to consider when shopping for a laminate floor

Laminate Abrasion Criteria (AC Ratings) Explained
Have you ever checked through a range of laminate flooring and spotted an AC rating? You probably asked “what do these ratings mean? Laminate floors are given ratings relating to their durability and suitability of use. The internationally accepted classification of laminate flooring durability is the Abrasion Criteria or ‘AC’ Rating.
AC stands for Abrasion Criteria.  It means products have been tested for durability for abrasion, stains and burns and impact resistance. AC stands for Abrasion Class, and it was introduced by the European Producers of Laminate Flooring (EPLF). Most laminates are now graded with an AC rating, which is a much more accurate measure of how tough and durable a particular laminate is.
Laminates will endure a series of tests to determine how well the floor will stand up to wear and tear – in both residential and commercial settings. These tests include the floor’s resistance to abrasion, impact, stains and burns. It must pass certain levels of criteria to achieve a rating. Failing on any of the criteria will prevent the floor from achieving that rating. Each time it passes, it will be tested more stringently to achieve the succeeding rating.
The abrasion classes range from AC1 to AC6, with AC6 being the most durable. They can be divided into both residential and commercial application.  The higher the AC number the more resistant to wear it becomes.  A general rule of thumb is an AC1 would be for low to moderate traffic in a residential application. An AC2 rating (Class 22) rated laminate flooring is one step above the AC1 level, meaning that it is most suitable for domestic settings again, but for areas within the home that see higher footfall but not a huge amount of wear tear. On the other hand, an AC3 rating (Class 23/31) is ideal in moderate trafficked living rooms, conservatories, hallways , moderate foot traffic areas with low amounts of wear and tear such as dining rooms .AC4 (Class 32): would be classified as moderate commercial or higher residential use. For residential an AC4 would be suitable for families with higher traffic and general trafficked commercial spaces such as offices, cafes, salons and boutiques or residential spaces. AC5 rating (Class 33), would be ideal on busy areas requiring medium to heavy traffic resistance such as retail stores, showrooms, restaurants and schools. AC6 rating (Class 34): Very heavy intensive trafficked areas such as supermarkets, airport terminals and public-facing government buildings.
Impact Resistant:
When looking to buy a new laminate floor, the thickness of the laminate isn’t always the best measure of its durability or lifespan. Our Laminates have TitanX™ surface protection together with a dense core material that will keep its elegant finish year in and year out. TitanX™ is a multilayer technology that includes protective and impact layers of aluminum oxides particles, which provides superior protection to wear, scratching and high resistance for handling dropped objects and high heels.

Here at Floor Décor Kenya, we only sell Pergo® the inventor of laminate flooring with an AC rating of AC4 and above. This ensures high durability, without compromising on the authentic look of the flooring. We offer a whole Pergo® range of laminate flooring with a great variety of style, color, and textures. How to level your concrete Subfloor

FLOOR LEVELLING .

To have a good solid floor the Subfloor level is a very important factor .

We urge Fundi’s not to install any type of Floor covering Materials on an uneven Subfloor .

Uneven floor are the reason your PERGO laminate /LVT floor is bouncing whenever you walk on it and after some times the joints will unlock .

Ceramic tiles will have uneven grouts joints , some will leave air bubble or even crack , during installation a lot of tile adhesive , cement is used up to level .

Mkeka wa  mbao BEAUFLOR Vinyl flooring laid loose will form bubble underneath and eventually it will crease .

Epoxy flooring will start cracking over time .

It’s very simple to check a subfloor surface level as DIY using a two meter straight strip it can be metal based strip ETC .

The conventional way to level a subfloor is two hack that subfloor and apply new coat of mortar , this conventional way is tedious in labor and again you will wait close to a week or more while watering it for the subfloor to cure 😩

At Floor Decor we are using self leveling compound it can be sika brand or kenbro no need for hacking within 24 hrs your floor is smooth , well leveled and dry 😊.

1 bag weighs 25 kgs and covers 8-12 sq meter when applied 2mm coat .

For a room that is stylish and easy to clean, consider laminate flooring

Posted at DAILY NATION – LIFE & STYLE, Read More

WHEN IT COMES to home flooring, clients are spoilt for choice. From plain concrete to elegant patterned wooden or ceramic tiles, the varieties are limitless. However, every type of flooring material has its pros and cons. For instance, concrete floors absorb moisture, have little variety and offer little insulation against sound and heat.

Meanwhile, ceramic tiles are hard on the heels, can be too cold for comfort during the rainy season, and  are unforgiving to breakables such as glass and pottery that might accidentally land on them.

Solid wood flooring is often shunned by the environmentally conscious, while carpets, though adding to the overall aesthetics, tend to accumulate dust and sometimes harbour pathogens.

With the foregoing, laminate flooring seems to be an ideal compromise.

Mr Amos Kibaru, the CEO of Floor Décor Kenya, defines laminate flooring as “a hybrid, high- density fibre board that combines wood fibres with melanin resin”.

The material, which can be made to look like hardwood, stone or ceramic tiles, has a smooth finish that makes it relatively more attractive. A visit to Floor Décor Kenya’s show-room reveals a wide variety of patterns and designs to choose from.

“The design options we offer are limitless, making our product suitable for interior décor enthusiasts,” Mr Kibaru says.

But perhaps the greatest advantage when it comes to laminate flooring is its durability which, Mr Kibaru insists, is forever.

ABRASION CRITERIA

“Our products are composed of four layers, which ensure the stability and integrity of the flooring. They have life-time warranties,” he says,  adding,  that his company had installed laminated floors in motor vehicle showrooms, airports and churches across the country.
