How to level your concrete Subfloor
FLOOR LEVELLING . To have a good solid floor the Subfloor level is a very important factor . We urge Fundi’s not to install any type of Floor covering Materials on an uneven Subfloor . Uneven floor are the reason your PERGO laminate /LVT floor is bouncing whenever you walk on it and after some times the joints will unlock . Ceramic tiles will have uneven grouts joints , some will leave air bubble or even crack , during installation a lot of tile adhesive , cement is used up to level . Mkeka wa mbao BEAUFLOR Vinyl flooring laid loose will form bubble underneath and eventually it will crease . Epoxy flooring will start cracking over time . It’s very simple to check a subfloor surface level as DIY using a two meter straight strip it can be metal based strip ETC . The conventional way to level a subfloor is two hack that subfloor and apply new coat of mortar , this conventional way is tedious in labor and again you will wait close to a week or more while watering it for the subfloor to cure 😩 At Floor Decor we are using self leveling compound it can be sika brand or kenbro no need for hacking within 24 hrs your floor is smooth , well leveled and dry 😊. 1 bag weighs 25 kgs and covers 8-12 sq meter when applied 2mm coat . MAINTENANCE GUIDE General Maintenance The amount of daily usage will determine how often cleaning is required. Sweep as necessary with a soft broom. Care must be taken if you use a vacuum cleaner. Do not use vacuum cleaners with “beater bars”. Wipe over with a clean damp mop or cloth, which should be rinsed frequently in clean water. Remember that all floors can be slippery when wet. When necessary, wash with a solution of clean water and mild detergent or domestic floor cleaning emulsion*. Rinse thoroughly and soak up residual water. For additional lustre, buff with a dry cloth. Spots, marks and spillages should be wiped up as soon as possible. Cushioned floors with an additional protective coating such as Beauflor Premium Protect, Multi Protect and Ultra-grip, do not normally require polish. Other floors (Bartoli/Lioni) will require polishing to protect the floor’s surface from staining agents and to give a surface shine. For such floors, apply a liquid emulsion floor polish** immediately after installation and thereafter at 6 – 12 month intervals as required. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions when using a floor polish or cleaner. *Do not use – wire or nylon wool scouring pads, furniture polish, spirit based polish, powder or liquid abrasive cleaners, bleach or strong detergents ** Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions – check that the cleaner/polish is suitable for use with cushioned vinyl floor coverings. Protecting Your Floor From Physical Damage Avoid the following: ⊗ Rubber backing on doormats may result in yellow discoloration of the floor immediately beneath. Choose a natural fiber mat. ⊗ Rubber feet on furniture may cause staining. Remove them altogether or place coasters or felt pads between them and the floor. ⊗ Spirit-based products such as shoe polish, solvents, hair dye and permanent marker pens. Wipe up spots and marks as quickly as possible. Also applies to turmeric, mustard and strongly colored foodstuffs. ⊗ Corrosive substances such as acid and alkaline solutions can damage the surface of the floor. Cl Beauflor Clean up any spills quickly and carefully avoiding direct contact with the substance. Wear protective clothing such as gloves when doing so. ⊗ Bitumen/tar from freshly resurfaced or melted roads and pathways. Some inexpensive rubber shoe and slipper soles can also cause stains. The above list is indicative of materials likely to cause damage but is not considered restrictive.
